VEGETABLE FIBER CONSISTS OF A CELLULOSE FIBER BASE WHICH HAS BEEN IMPREGNATED WITH A PROTEIN AND GLYCERINE BINDER. THIS MATERIAL HAS THREE OUTSTANDING PROPERTIES. FIRST, IT HAS EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD SEALING PROPERTIES. SECOND, IT IS HIGHLY CONFORMABLE TO COMPENSATE FOR DISTORTIONS IN FLANGES. THIRD, VEGETABLE FIBER IS CHEMICALLY INERT IN THE PRESENCE OF PETROLEUM LUBRICATING OILS, AUTOMOTIVE GASOLINES, FUEL OILS AND MANY ORGANIC SOLVENTS. VEGETABLE FIBER CONTAINS AN ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOUND 10 RESIST FUNGUS ORGANISMS. THIS MATERIAL PROVIDES EXCELLENT SERVICE IN MODERATE DUTY GENERAL PURPOSE APPLICATIONS. VEGETABLE FIBER IS SUITABLE FOR SERVICE AS TEMPERATURES UP TO 250"F.
